    What’s for Dinner?

I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking for new inspiration for my dinner menu. It’s easy to get into a rut of eating the same thing week after week. Sometimes it’s hard to think outside of the box…or pizza box. That’s why I decided to share my dinner ideas weekly. Each week I plan 5-7 dinner ideas depending on what activities that we have on the calendar. I’ll also share my shopping list for those meals to save you even more time. If you have any meal ideas that are favorites in your house, I’d love to hear them! Please add any ideas to the comments! Dinner 1…

    Easy Homemade Granola

Our family loves to munch on granola as a snack or for breakfast with some fruit and yogurt. I try to avoid store bought granola because a lot of it is filled with more junk than good stuff. I started making my own granola after a friend shared her homemade granola recipe a few years ago. Since then, I’ve modified her amazing recipe slightly to fit our tastes. (This recipe also easily be made as a gluten free option.) Grab a big bowl and all of your ingredients. Some of the granola ingredients are optional or depend on your taste preferences (for example: do you prefer pecans or walnuts or…

    California Dreams – Part II

Last year I found out that I had a work trip to San Diego for a week in October. My husband and I had never been to California and jumped at the chance to turn the work trip into an amazing 9 day family vacation. After all, who wouldn’t want to fly cross country with a 7 year old and a 1 1/2 year old? I’ll admit, embarking on a 9 day trip with 2 young kids to a place we’d never been before, did seem a little bit intimidating. But in the end this journey ended up being the trip of a lifetime thanks to some VERY careful planning…

The Essential Guide to Choosing a Lamp

The links in this post may contain affiliate links and I will receive a small commission if you make a purchase after clicking my link. My husband says that I’m always buying lamps and pillows. I feel like I always find a dark corner that I want to light up with a lovely little lamp. And pillows – let’s just say, I like to be comfortable. To be honest, lamps may seem like a strange thing to write about but I think a lot of people are somewhat clueless when it comes to lamps (I definitely was). What’s so complicated you may ask? Well, it doesn’t seem very complicated until…

    My Secret to being “Lucky”

Let me start off by saying that I consider myself extremely lucky in that I have two beautiful daughters and an incredible husband. We’re all healthy and very happy. We live in a nice warm house and have plenty of food to eat, nice clothes and lots of toys. But when I look back at the last 40 something years, I’ve never been a “lucky” person in what you might think of as traditional luck. I don’t gamble because frankly, I’ve never won more than a free ticket in a scratch off. I’m convinced that the lottery pool I was part of at work never won a thing because I…

    DIY Chalk Paint Cabinet

When we moved into our house several years ago I sourced a lot of different places for furniture – outlet stores, thrift stores, furniture stores, catalogs, Ikea. I didn’t want our house to have a “furniture store” look. If I liked the look of something and it went with the space I bought it. A lot of our furniture we’ve acquired over time. I think it’s hard to move into a house and immediately buy every piece of furniture at once – unless you have unlimited budget and a designer on speed dial. What I did do when we bought our house, is made a list of each room and…

    Homemade Soft Pretzels

We live outside Philly – so you know we love soft pretzels. Several years ago we found a recipe for homemade soft pretzels. This recipe is AWESOME! Full disclosure: to make these pretzels you do need to plan a little bit in advance because they require a little bit of rising time (about an hour). But overall the pretzels are fairly simple and they are amazing. It’s also a really fun cold or rainy day project for kids to help out with in the kitchen. This pretzel recipe we used by Alton Brown is amazing. I think that Alton’s secret is in boiling them in the baking soda water before…
